Medical Tourism, Routine Reporting and PersonRegister schema

From 1 September 2018 DoH circular US/25/18 mandates reporting of medical tourism through electronic claims and expands routine reporting requirements.

In accordance with the above circular, the following changes are implemented in the DoH Data Standard:

• A new section on shafafiya portal: Shafafiya Reporting
• A new page describing the reporting mechanism for medical tourism along with other related clarifications:
• https://doh.gov.ae/shafafiya/reporting Reporting of medical tourism, self-pay and non-insurance claims
• New elements in the PersonRegister schema:
  • PersonEmirateOfresidence
  • PersonCountryOfresidence
• New validation rules to enforce mandatory reporting of:
  • electronic claims for medical tourism encounters
  • Present on Admission (POA) flag for all inpatients in DxInfo element
  • year of onset for certain conditions in DxInfo element
  • Clinical Signs observations
