Abdulla Al Hamed praises the efforts of the national cadres at the Abu Dhabi Central Morgue

HE Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), met a group of the national cadres at the Abu Dhabi Central Morgue, as part of His Excellencies’ regular visits across the Emirate’s healthcare sector to review progress of work. The Central Morgue is a vital component of the emirates healthcare system that contributes to the delivery of holistic healthcare experience.
During his visit, Al Hamed praised the distinguished efforts presented by the national workforce in light of the continuous supported received from the UAE’s wise leadership related to boosting human competencies. National cadres play a pivotal role in the advancement of the emirate’s healthcare sector and represent 83% of the medical staff at the Central Morgue which include specialists, doctors and consultants in forensic medicine and sciences as well as mortuary technicians, embalming and radiology for virtual autopsy.
HE Al Hamed, said: “Under the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership, Abu Dhabi continues to further engrave its position as a leader in healthcare and showcase its pioneering model for emergency preparedness and response. The Morgue is a key pillar of the emirates healthcare sector that ensures its complete preparedness for emergency response. We appreciate the efforts exerted by the Morgue’s workforce and their limitless contribution to the healthcare sector.”
Al Hamed toured the Central Morgue and was brief on the latest technologies deployed at the facility in accordance with the highest international standards. The advanced technologies include virtual autopsy, the first of its kind in the region, where the body of the deceased undergoes clinical radiology or CT scans that are conducted by qualified technicians, using protocols and regulations set by DoH. The Morgue has utilised virtual autopsy with over 1561 cases since its launch earlier last year.
On the sidelines of his visit, Al Hamed recognised the graduates of the first edition of the UAE’s Embalming Course, in collaboration with IQARUS, a company specialised in delivering integrated healthcare solutions. The Course seeks to advance the skillset of national cadres and technicians working in the field.
The Abu Dhabi Central Morgue is the first in the country to obtain a healthcare facility license from DoH. Since its establishment two years ago, the Morgue has dealt with 5,850 cases.
