Abu Dhabi's Latest Healthcare Projects

Abu Dhabi Life Science Hub on the Metaverse

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) is launching its office in The Metaverse, welcoming users to its virtual office, where they can visit up to 11 destinations, varying from conference halls to a 3D body modelling booth.

Using Avatars, users will see all the updates on DoH’s ongoing projects and services, while learning more about what makes Abu Dhabi a leading destination for healthcare. DoH’s Metaverse office brings together healthcare providers, start-ups, and investors in one place, to exchange knowledge and experiences. It will also host a demo-day, in which participating start-ups will present their ideas to investors.

Genome & Personalised Medicine Programme

Part of the Emirati Genome Programme, the Genome & Personalised Medicine Programme in Abu Dhabi aims to create a genomic roadmap for the citizens of the UAE. Integrating genomics into health data to provide world-class healthcare services and maintain the community’s well-being.

The programme will use genomic data that evaluate the genome of UAE citizens utilising advanced technologies, like Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of genome analysis. This will be applied in areas of diagnosis, prognosis, prevention and treatment of disease and disorders in multiple specialities, like oncology, rare and metabolic diseases, pharmacogenomics, pre-marital screening, diabetes, and heart diseases.

Malaffi Health Portal

Malaffi is the region’s first Health Information Exchange platform, safely connecting public and private healthcare providers in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It creates a centralised database for all patients’ records, thus improving the quality of healthcare.

Through the Health Portal, patients can access their latest medical data related to doctors' visits, results, reports, medications, allergies, conditions, immunisations, and discharge summaries.

Malaffi is a key component of DoH’s digital transformation and is considered one of the fastest Health Information Exchange globally, connecting 100% of hospitals and 99% of all patient episodes in Abu Dhabi in 3 years.

Disease Registry (DOH & ADPHC joint project)

In partnership with Abu Dhabi Public Health Centre, the Disease Registry Electronic Platform aims to monitor the challenges of chronic diseases among patients in Abu Dhabi and facilitate the identification of risk factors leading to diseases. In the meantime, the platform will also assess the impact of current prevention and early detection programmes, while creating benchmarks against regional and international counterparts.

By enabling healthcare facilities in the Emirate to submit vital data and clinical information on chronic diseases, the Platform is supporting both DoH and ADPHC’s efforts in advancing Abu Dhabi’s public health ecosystem and improving patient outcomes.

Kawader

Kawader is the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi’s unique platform that presents distinctive work opportunities across Abu Dhabi’s healthcare workforce, by highlighting available vacancies according to the needs and requirements of the sector. This comes in line with DoH’s efforts in enhancing the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of the healthcare services in the Emirate.

Opportunities available on Kawader include nursing, emergency medicine, internal medicine, and other allied medical segments from within healthcare facilities in the Emirate.
