Public Health Goals
To drive our objective of improving the health and well-being of the Abu Dhabi community, Department of Health – Abu Dhabi has set a number of Public Health Goals. These are ongoing goals and necessitate collaboration with healthcare providers, strategic partners and the general public in Abu Dhabi.
Cardiovascular Disease Prevention and Management
To reduce the cardiovascular disease (CVD) burden by preventing the onset of, and improving control and treatment of CVD risk factors, including obesity, smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure and blood cholesterol.
To reduce the number of smokers and users of other forms of tobacco.
Communicable Disease Prevention and Control
To maintain the low prevalence of communicable diseases using evidence-based preventative interventions and effective early response systems.
Occupational and Environmental Health
To reduce the incidence of occupational and environmental-related diseases and injuries among the working population.
Mother, Infant and School Health
To reduce mortality and morbidity related to pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum/postnatal periods. To enable school children and adolescents to adopt healthy lifestyles and behaviors by creating supportive and healthy environments inside schools.
Cancer Control and Prevention
To reduce the incidence and mortality of cancer through prevention, early diagnosis and/or treatment.
To reduce the incidence rate of road traffic-related injuries and deaths.
To improve the health status and quality of life of people living with chronic conditions, such as asthma.
To improve the population’s oral health status.
