The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi announced as Member of the Arab Hospitals Federation

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has been announced as member of the Arab Hospitals Federation, an independent and non-profit organisation that serves healthcare systems in the Arab region. The membership was presented to DoH during a visit from an esteemed delegation representing the Federation to learn more about Abu Dhabi’s pioneering healthcare model. 

HE Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of DoH, was awarded the Golden Key, the highest honour accolade presented by the Arab Hospitals Federation, in recognition of his outstanding efforts in leading Abu Dhabi’s remarkable healthcare workforce. Furthermore, the visit witnessed the appointment of HE Hind Mubarak Al Zaabi, Executive Director of Healthcare Facilities Sector at DoH, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Hospitals Federation.

The visit witnessed the attendance of high-profile officials which included Prof. Dr. Tawfik Khoja, Secretary General at the Arab Hospitals Federation, HE Deputy Fadi Alama, President of the Arab Hospitals Federation, Alice Yammine Boueiz, Chief Executive Officer of the Arab Hospitals Federation and Dr. Ali El-Haj, Member of the Executive Council of the Arab Hospitals Federation. 

During the visit, the delegation toured a number of healthcare facilities in the emirate including Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD) and Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City – where they were briefed on some of the most prominent projects and programmes in Abu Dhabi’s healthcare ecosystem such as Malaffi, a centralised patient health information system, and Muashir – Abu Dhabi Healthcare Quality Index, a quality framework that promotes sustainability and effectiveness of care to enhance patient experience. 

HE Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) said: "We are proud to have become member of the prestigious Arab Hospitals Federation – we look forward to contribute to their effective efforts in boosting the healthcare ecosystem in the Arab region. Through this membership, we seek to share Abu Dhabi’s pioneering healthcare model with our peers across the sector – the fruit of the invaluable guidance and support we continue to receive from the UAE’s wise leadership as they prioritise the health and safety of our population. We look forward to working closely with the Federation to boost healthcare efforts originating from our region as we reiterate the emirates position as a leader in the field."

Al Hamed added: "Hind Mubarak Al Zaabi is a distinguished member of DoH who is a great example and model of our ambitious Emirati women. We congratulate her on becoming a board member of the Federation and we have no doubt that her contributions will echo across the healthcare sector very soon. “

For his part, HE Deputy Fadi Alama, expressed his happiness to have DoH join the Federation. He pointed out that this is a valuable opportunity for knowledge and experience exchange aimed at elevating the regional healthcare sector.  

Prof. Dr. Tawfik Khoja expressed his gratitude to HE Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed and DoH for becoming member of the Federation represented by HE Hind Mubarak Al Zaabi. He stressed on the importance of similar constructive collaborations for the development of the Arab healthcare sector.  

The Golden Key award is considered the highest honour accolade presented by the Arab Hospitals Federation. It is typically awarded to Arab healthcare authorities and personalities in recognition of their efforts and contributions across the healthcare sector in the region. The Award seeks to shed light on organisations and individuals that serve the healthcare sector with extreme dedication, sincerity, and integrity. 

Alice Yammine Boueiz stated that the appointment of HE Hind Mubarak Al Zaabi as a board member in the Federation serves a as a real time model of the successful Emirati women. HE Hind continues to lead an excelling career distinguished by a long-term vision and dedication to the healthcare sector. 

The Arab Hospitals Federation is an independent, non-political and non-profit organisation that represents and serves Arab public and private hospitals, medical centres, institutions and organisations directly connected with the provision of healthcare.
